The FM/ISO control console must be operated in combination with SIC102, the interpreter microphone to give simultaneous interpretation. A special connection cable will be provided for connecting up the FM/ISO console with the SIC102 microphones. In case the distance from the console to the interpreter is far away, extension cable must be used.

Interpreters sit inside the booth and use headphones of SIC102 to listen to the original sound, which is normally called the floor channel (OR). At the same time, they speak their simultaneous translation in other language and the translated language will be processed by the FM/ISO and transmitted through infrared radiators to the listeners.
