| Interpreter console (SIC106D) is the platform for interpreter to do simultaneous interpretation. Its major function is to distribute interpreter’s voice into the appropriated infrared channel. It possesses multiple switching functions to ensure the smooth running of interpretation. If direct interpretation is not possible, relay interpretation must be used. In this case, an interpreter must listen to another interpreter’s channel, and then re-interpret it to the appropriate language. There is a mute key, once it is pressed the output will stop until released. These consoles are usually installed inside soundproof interpreter’s booths with good ventilation to shield interpreters from the noisy environment |
